Since TVs became flat, they no longer accommodated full-fledged acoustic systems. As a result, the quality of sound for movies and TV broadcasts left much to be desired. And if there is a need, there will always be an offer – soundbars have taken on the role of a high-quality TV audio system.

The reasons for the wild popularity of soundbars are clear – on the one hand, they significantly improve the quality of sound for films, concerts, and TV programs, and on the other hand, they do not require solving a lot of problems associated with installing and setting up a full-fledged multi-channel home theater system.

As a rule, the soundbar itself is placed on a shelf or hung on the wall next to the TV, and the subwoofer is located in any convenient place nearby. The design of the SVEN SB-2200D soundbar is strict and minimalistic. In an elegant plastic case imitating black piano lacquer, under a non-removable black metal protective grill, there are two pairs of broadband speakers with a diameter of 52 mm. Each pair of emitters is served by a separate amplifier with a power of 60 watts.

The low-frequency range is entrusted to an active subwoofer with a bass driver with a diameter of 190 mm, operating in a phase-inverted design and mounted on the lower wall of the case. A large round phase-inverter port is located on the rear wall of the case, which must be taken into account when installing the subwoofer relative to the walls of the room. The low-frequency module is equipped with an amplifier with a power of 180 watts.

The soundbar’s switching arsenal is concentrated in a deep niche on the back wall of the case, allowing you to hide the connected cables. There are a minimum of connectors here – an HDMI port with support for the audio return channel, a digital optical input for connecting a TV that does not have an HDMI ARC port, an analog input on a 3.5 mm minijack connector and a USB-A port for connecting a flash drive with MP3 audio files. There is also a connector for connecting an external power supply.

SVEN SB-2200D also features a Bluetooth interface for wireless music streaming from mobile gadgets. Bluetooth support allows you to use the soundbar as a wireless speaker for your smartphone. Thus, SVEN SB-2200D will not only help you show movies but can also accompany your party with music.

To control the soundbar, you can use the keys on the top panel of the central unit. With their help, you can turn the device on and off, adjust the volume level, activate the Bluetooth pairing mode, and control the operating modes of the built-in audio player. But it is more convenient to use the included remote control, which opens access to a full set of adjustments. The soundbar can be placed on a table or a shelf in front of the TV, for which it is equipped with soft rubber feet, or hung on the wall under the TV. Moreover, no brackets are required to fix the SVEN SB-2200D to the wall – just screw in two screws, which are included with dowels.

During testing, the SVEN SB-2200D soundbar worked in tandem with a Samsung QE55Q80RAUXRU QLED TV with a 55-inch screen diagonal, connected via HDMI with an ARC audio return channel. The content source was the TV’s built-in multimedia player. SVEN SB-2200D model

The test material included movie scenes in media files located on an external USB drive connected to the TV. In addition, we streamed music from a Samsung Galaxy A52 smartphone to the soundbar via Bluetooth. The testing took place in a room of about 25 square meters without special acoustic treatment.

The sound of SVEN SB-2200D when accompanying movies was distinguished by its detail and softness – such a presentation is called comfortable. Despite the presence of only two channels, the soundbar manages to create volume quite well. Of course, you shouldn’t expect tectonic bass depths from a budget soundbar, but the contribution of the subwoofer was felt and contributed in the most favorable way to the expressiveness of the system’s sound in tense scenes of modern blockbusters.

Let’s note the rather high overload capacity of the soundbar for the compact size of the SVEN SB-2200D components – at any volume level, distortions remained at an acceptable level, without damaging either the hearing or the soundbar drivers. At the same time, the SVEN SB-2200D manages to avoid mush in the delivery of sound information even at fairly high volume levels – a very valuable quality for budget systems. There were no surprises when playing music from a smartphone – after all, Bluetooth imposes restrictions on the quality of the broadcast content, and there is no support for codecs like aptX to partially solve this problem. However, the SVEN SB-2200D performed no worse than monoblock wireless speakers of approximately the same price range, and this feature is actually just an additional bonus to the main functionality of the soundbar.
